How to get to the Colosseum by underground train (metro)

Reaching the Colosseum is straightforward via the metro system. Simply take metro line B and disembark at the Colosseo station, which will lead you directly to the monument’s base.

The metro, particularly line B, is the most convenient route. Alight at Colosseo station, and upon exiting, you’ll immediately spot the colossal ancient amphitheater on your left.

Buses also provide a convenient option. Numerous buses pass by the Colosseum, but ensure that the bus number you board travels via Colosseo. Among the buses travelling to the Colosseum are 40, 51, 60, 75, 81, 175, and 204. For added convenience, consider using the Roma Bus app.


How to get to the Colosseum by foot or bicycle

Walking to the Colosseum is also quite feasible. The monument is at the convergence of three intersecting roads: Via di Fori Imperiali, Via Labicana, and Via Celio Vibenna. These roads encircle the structure, making it easily accessible on foot.

How to get to the Colosseum from the airport (Fiumicino & Ciampino)

How to get to the Colosseum from Fiumicino Airport

Upon arrival, take the Trenitalia train departing every 15 minutes. This train journey takes approximately 40 minutes to reach Tiburtina station. From there, transfer to underground line B and get off at the Colosseum stop.


How to get to the Colosseum from Ciampino Airport

From Ciampino Airport, you have several options. The 520 bus can transport you to the nearby Subauguta and Cinecittà stations on metro line A.

Alternatively, the 720 bus will take you to the more distant Laurentina station on metro line B. These routes provide convenient access to the Colosseum from Ciampino Airport.
